[Before the article, everyone who is very confused... shyama=general caste; general caste=shyama...some people just take all the fun out of having a meaningful pseudonym...]
"Youth For Equality" Chapters across the Globe will go for a Symbolic Protest
Black Day
On 14th August 2005
Everybody knows that Government is ready to bring the OBC reservation Bill in the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Parliament.
Even though the Matter is Subjudice in Supreme Court, there is no bounding on Government to not table the Bill in the Parliament.
We need to show our Strength to the Government by Non-Violent Means.
What you need to Do:-
1. Wear Black Clothes on 14th August and show your Protest. Take Pride in being part of the Protest.
2. Students, Professionals, Businessmen, vendors, pensioners, farmers and housewives should take part in the Protest by wearing Black. (At least a Black Ribbon).
How You Can Help:-
1. Don't depend on Internet Alone.
2. Paste Posters.
3. Distribute Pamphlets.
4. Distributing Pamphlets in Person is a huge task, Catch the Newspaper Vendor, Pay him Money, He will put a pamphlet each in Newspapers.
5. Stickers can be pasted on Newspapers.
6. Scroll Headlines in Local Cable TV Channels.
7. Banners in Front of Schools, Colleges and Offices.
8. Loudspeaker Announcements.
9. Put Stalls in front of your colleges, Organizations, Bus Stands and distribute Black Ribbons.
10. E Mails/Internet: Draft a common Mail and post it on all Yahoo Groups, Google Communities, and YFE Blogs etc. I again request YFE Delhi to start communicating to the 17000+ members who registered themselves on YFE site.

honestly, reservation arguement apart, i really think pro OBCs have a point. yes, OBCs deserve a chance. they deserve everything everyone else deserves. but not too much right? why at the expense of the other castes? why at the expense of what we have built over the years? why not just implement older policies properly and then look at more reservations? is this not affecting the rest? it is not their fault. everyone has to work. reservation for minority is OK. 50%, a bit too much, yea? Are we not all Indians after all? caste, colour, sex, religion, language and ethnicity apart? Dont we all have the same black passports with the same lion capital on it? only 26% of India is poor, but why 49.5% reservations? dont the remaining OBCs who can make ends meet not get away with it? cant we make it based on financial status rather than social?? dont get me wrong, i didnt mean ONLY as in 'ahh...just 26%' only as in 'not 50%, DUDE, its half of that' im not angry, upset or jealous, as has been suggested, only disappointed. we cant find more brutal way to murder democracy, equality, secularism and more so fraternity. aren't we all "brothers and sisters" though not literally? shouldnt we respect each other?shouldnt we be more Indian rather than 'OBC' or 'shudra' or 'brahmin'
ppl! we are in the 21st century...why are we developng backwards? food for thought, yes, also for some people, food for contempt and misunderstanding...but those ppl, are kind of hopeless.
to conclude, i would like to borrow Shakespeare's words "Dost thou lie so low?" Mother India? Awaken, and my father, let my country awake:
Where the mind is without fear
and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic wallsWhere words come out
from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom,
my Father, let my country awake
JAI HIND!
